我們在蒙特利公園遇到可以實現理想成就的機會. 現在是時候迎接挑戰了.
我為什麼參選
2022年搬到蒙特利公園時, 我感覺就像回家一樣…
我從小就常去聖蓋博谷探望家人. 所以能定居在附近一個有不同族裔, 多元文化的城市.令我感到非常興奮. 但同時我又不確知我與我另一半會否被接納. 第一次沿着愛迪生小徑散步時, 有幾位年長的華裔鄰居熱情與我們打招呼. 過幾天, 一位住在附近很久的居民送自製的愛爾蘭蘇打麵包給我們. 那種歸屬感,令我十分感動.
當資料中心的建構威脅到我們社區的宜居性時, 我們以勇氣, 創造力和不懈的努力響應了號召. 我們以壓倒性的優勢贏得了資料中心之戰. 讓我們盼望能夠利用這股優勢完成很多理想事情: 提升蒙市的步行便利性, 建造更多房屋, 振興市中心, 並將土星公園發展成為理想的社區中心.
於是, 我一直等着有新的候選人競選市議員. 結果鄰居們卻紛紛勸我參選. 起初我持懷疑的態度, 因從未想過自己會成為政治家. 但後來我意識到大家已經把我視為社區領袖. 我們有責任盡可能擴大影響力, 甚至要爭取一個市議員席位. 有了席位, 我就可以繼續為社區發聲, 發揮更大的作用. 我競選市議員, 是因為我…..你們….. 我們都深愛蒙特利公園, 我們有責任為它出力.
